NEW SINGLE PREMIERE: STRANGERS - SOMETHING NEW

I have @Popservations to thank for introducing me to this band and their upcoming debut single ‘Something New’.

British trio Strangers are made up of lead vocalist David Maddox-Jones, drummer Raife Hacking and synth player Piers Sherwood-Roberts who have earned widespread acclaim, Radio 1’s attention and support slots for Niki & The Dove and Grimes off the back of their first three EPs

Now they’re set to release their first single proper ‘Something New’ via record label Just Off Pop on 13th May 2013. The track sees the relative newcomers collaborating with producer Dimitri Tikivoi who has previously worked with The Horrors, Goldfrapp, Placebo and Little Boots and it blends haunting vocals with melodic pop sensibilities to create an instantly gratifying musical experience, worthy of repeat listens.

Strangers Update

Hi guys, it may seem like we’ve been a bit quiet for the past couple of months so  I thought we’d give you a little update as to what we’ve been up to. We have decided to spend a little more time than we first thought on working on our debut album as we want it to be the best it can possibly be and to perfectly embody what Strangers are about.

We have spent the last half of 2012 writing, including sessions with Dimitri Tikovoi (Placebo, Goldfrapp, The Horrors, Ian Brown) and an upcoming session with Andy Savours (My Bloody Valentine, Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, PJ Harvey, Arctic Monkeys, U2).

Song titles include: Broken, Dreams and Echo Of Me….

Broken, in particular, we are really proud of at the moment as it sounds really massive but the instrumentation consists of only four parts. We are used to layering our production so it’s nice to achieve a big sound using very little.

Dreams is our most epic new song and is the first song we’ve all had a part in writing as a band really. It’s been a total mission to find the right direction to take it in but I think we are there now…..

We’re not really thinking about which songs are going to be singles at the moment, it’s all about getting as many songs together as we can.

In other news has anyone seen Piers in the new James Bond film Skyfall? I haven’t seen it yet, but yeah, that happened ;)

Anyway, hope to see you all at our show at Queen of Hoxton on Thursday 15th November, it’s going to be our last live show for a while whilst we continue getting our shit together.

Stay Strange,

David x
